“By peace we mean the capacity to transform conflicts with empathy, without violence, and creatively — a never-ending process.” ~ J. Galling
As part of the National Youth Violence Prevention Week, One Common Unity is partnering with groups across the country to host screenings of the award-winning documentary film Fly By Light followed by a live, online “Talk Back” session.
Fly By Light offers an intimate view of the struggles four young people work to overcome and the ways in which an innovative program uses nature immersion, the creative arts, and social-emotional learning to help them heal, grow, and transform.
The screening and Talk Back are focused on:
Highlighting the importance of peace education and youth empowerment through the arts
Inspiring more compassionate ways to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds
Sparking a national dialogue around ways to heal communities

Fly By Light is a beautiful film that touches on themes of healing, vulnerability as strength, and the power of community. The youth transform in fundamental ways before our eyes, revealing their strength, resilience, and newfound belief in themselves. There is a great need for One Common Unity’s work and I hope this film will inspire others to support this work and become active in their own communities! ~ S.Toby (Street Yoga Seattle)
